Pergola ZIP Screen
Guided fabric edges stay retained in side tracks while motorized movement helps manage low-angle sun, privacy, glare and side exposure.
- Guided fabric edges
- Motorized movement
- Multiple openness factors and colors
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
What is a pergola ZIP screen?
A ZIP screen is a vertical shading system for a pergola side opening. Guided fabric edges remain in the side tracks, the head cassette contains the tube and motor, and a weighted bottom rail supports smooth travel. It can reduce low-angle sun and glare, improve privacy and retain different levels of outward view according to fabric openness.
It is not a permanent wall and should not be presented as a fully waterproof or storm-proof enclosure. Suitability depends on model, opening size, supporting structure, wind exposure, electrical planning and site conditions.
THREE SYSTEM SERIES
From standard openings to extra-long spans
These are brochure reference limits for a single unit, not automatic approvals for every project. Final size depends on fabric, mounting direction, wind exposure and site support.
Compact and standard openings
108 Essential
- Reference width ≤ 4.3m
- Reference height ≤ 3m
- 108mm cassette
- 70mm roller tube
6063-T5 aluminum profiles with a brochure-listed 1.6-2.0mm profile thickness for standard project scopes.
Wider and taller project openings
120 Reinforced
- Reference width ≤ 6m
- Reference height ≤ 5m
- 120mm cassette
- 85mm aluminum tube
Reinforced 6063-T5 aluminum profiles with a brochure-listed 2.0-2.5mm thickness and plug-in balancing system.
Large-span commercial and hospitality projects
Extra-long Premium
- Reference width ≤ 15m
- 80mm double-wall tube
- Three-axis balancing system
- Double-weight bottom rail
For extra-long single spans. Structure, fabric, site wind exposure and installation conditions require project-specific review.

SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION
Fabric, guides and balancing hardware work together
The product is more than a fabric choice. A complete system coordinates the cassette, roller tube, motor, side guides, retained fabric edges, balancing hardware, bottom rail and mounting interface.
Head cassette
Protects the tube, motor and rolled fabric.
Tube and motor
Selected around width, fabric weight and controls.
Guided side tracks
Retain fabric edges and connect to the opening.
Weighted bottom rail
Supports flat fabric and stable travel.
Balancing system
Matched to the selected structural series.
Mounting interface
Front or side mounting is reviewed against the substrate.
FABRIC SELECTION
Openness changes shade, privacy and view
The same openness can look different by color, light direction and installation context. Physical sample approval should be part of final selection.
Blackout composite fabric
For strong sun, privacy and near-blackout requirements. Listed colors include white, light gray and dark gray.
High-shade twill fabric
A dense twill appearance balancing high shade with limited outward view. White, grays and coffee are listed.
View-through fiberglass fabric
Balances shade, ventilation and outward view for pergola lounges and hospitality terraces.
Open-view fabric
Provides greater visibility and daylight for balconies and terraces where the view matters.
High-openness mesh
Prioritizes outward view; shade and privacy are reduced, so orientation and use must guide selection.

APPLICATIONS
Manage sun, view and side exposure by application
Suitable for pergolas, hospitality terraces, residential balconies, sunrooms and selected building openings. Start with use, orientation, opening size and exposure.

HOSPITALITY TERRACE
Manage low-angle sun and dining glare
Around 5% openness can retain a garden view while improving afternoon side shade.

BALCONY & SUNROOM
Balance daylight, view and privacy
10% or 30% openness prioritizes the view; lower openness supports stronger shade or privacy.
MOUNTING OPTIONS
Front or side mounting starts with the fixing substrate
Guide rails may be reviewed for face fixing or side fixing according to the opening and support. Both require confirmation of substrate, clear opening, wiring, drainage path and service access.
Face mount
Guides fix to the face of the opening and need a continuous front mounting surface.
Side mount
Guides fix to the side return and require adequate fixing depth and edge clearance.
PROJECT QUESTIONS
Before ordering a pergola ZIP screen
What is a pergola ZIP screen?+
A pergola ZIP screen is a vertical side screen with guided edges that can help manage low-angle sunlight, privacy and side exposure around a pergola opening.
Can ZIP screens be added to every pergola?+
Compatibility depends on the selected model, finished opening dimensions, frame configuration, electrical requirements and project conditions.
What dimensions are needed for a ZIP screen?+
Provide the finished width and height for each required opening and identify its location on the pergola plan.
Can a ZIP screen be motorized?+
The current accessory range includes motorized operation, subject to control, power and compatibility review for the selected configuration.
Do ZIP screens make a pergola fully weatherproof?+
No. They can help manage side exposure but should not be described as a fully weatherproof or storm-proof enclosure.
What should be planned around furniture and access?+
Confirm circulation, doors, furniture positions, screen travel, service access and the sides that need protection.
How are ZIP screens coordinated with pergola posts and beams?+
Each screen is planned around a finished side opening. Side guides, the screen head, clearances and mounting interfaces must be coordinated with the posts, beams, drainage paths and any adjacent accessories before the configuration is confirmed.
Do motorized ZIP screens require electrical planning?+
Yes. Motorized screens require early coordination of the supply, cable routes, controls and interaction with the pergola roof and other powered accessories. Exact electrical requirements depend on the selected screen and project configuration.
How should ZIP screens be selected for exposed sites?+
Document the site exposure, required screen sides, finished openings, supporting structure, operating conditions and access. Suitability must be reviewed for the actual project rather than inferred from the product name or a generic wind claim.
Can ZIP screens be used on restaurant or rooftop pergolas?+
They can be considered where the selected pergola, opening dimensions, structural interfaces, control configuration, electrical planning and project requirements are compatible. Restaurant circulation and rooftop exposure require their own application review.
